Ryan Davis, has been in the ring and coaching boxing since early childhood. His dad, Terry, has been coaching boxing for 25 years and has operated his own gym for 9 years. Ryan grew up in the gym starting his amateur boxing career around the age of 9 at North County Gym in St. Louis with his father, along with Roger Bloodworth, trainer for Robbie Peden.
Twice during Ryan's amateur career, he earned the chance to box in the Junior Olympic Nationals (age 14, 15). Ryan's talent and dedication for the sport of boxing prevailed, receiving a "Golden Glove Champion" status for 6 years: 1990, '91, '95, '96, '97, and '98.
Ryan also attended Police Athletic League Nationals, where he won two bronze medals in 1995, 1996, and ranked third in the U.S. both those years. The last few years of his amateur career, Ryan's success took him to the U.S. Championships twice: 1997 and '98. After nearly 12 years of conditioning, both physically and mentally, Ryan's dedication to the ring paid off and he turned pro in 1999.
Ryan spent time training with Garcia Boxing in California under legendary trainer Max Garcia. During this time he was a stable mate of Oscar De La Hoya and he began working with "Sugar" Shane Mosley, Vince Phillips, Johnny Tapia, and good friend Robbie Peden.
In 2005 Ryan became the WBE Intercontinental Junior Middleweight Champion. He has 21 professional wins and is still active which enables him to get in and mix it up with his students. Ryan makes sure to give all his students lots of personal one-on-one time, no matter what their skill level is.
